Howth Yacht Club
Co. Dublin, 2016
Laydex Limited were tasked in association with their Approved Alkor installer, Titan Roofing, to revitalize the existing 25 year old existing single Ply Membrane roof on the Howth Yacht Club, Co Dublin. The aim of the project was to upgrade the existing U Valu of the roof and install a new PVC Single Ply waterproofing membrane while maintaining the aesthetic feature of the roof with its unique Blue and White striped roof. And also to offer a 20 year warranty upon completion.
This was achieved by Installing a new Xtratherm FRALU 50 mm PIR insulation board mechanically fixed to the existing structure, and overlaying this with Alkorplan 35276 (716) Blue and Alkorplan 35276 (701) Alkor Bright White single ply membranes all installed as per manufacturer’s guidelines and specifications.
The intricate detailing was a feature of the project and was dealt with by the excellent installation expertise of Titan Roofing. The objectives of the project were met by the ability of Laydex in association with Renolit to provide the necessary membranes and also the technical support.
For almost 40 years, the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN system has proven to be a reliable, fast, and efficient waterproofing solution. The system was developed for waterproofing roofs with an aesthetical design requirement covering horizontal, vertical, pitched, as well as curved roofs. The high water vapour transmission rate of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN allows the roof to breathe, reducing the risk of condensation and avoiding ventilation problems experienced with other single ply roofing systems. The greater flexibility and versatility of the system allows slopes, valleys, and contours such as those at Howth Yacht Club to be waterproofed easily and with minimal fuss.
The product used on the Howth YC project was the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN F PVC-P mechanically fixed roofing membrane 1.5 mm reinforced.
RENOLIT ALKORPLAN products are exclusively distributed in Ireland by Laydex Building Solutions.
