Project Overview

The unique brief from Alan Chui of John Thompson Architects was to create an elliptical curve representing a rugby ball in the “Munster Red”, the project being in the home of Munster Rugby, Limerick.

It was achieved after a lot of input from the skilled BEMO technical team led by Trevor Downs and Lawrence Claxton. What is normally used as a roof cladding was installed vertically in sheets up to 40m. Each sheet individually curved to suit the shape of the building. The finish was a specifically chosen Red Colour in a chosen RAL colour. The product is the KeyBEMO standing seam 400/65 profile sheet aluminium sheet. All relevant roof flashings were made from unprofiled flat aluminium sheets also

The result is this stunning Rugby Ball like structure in the heartland of Limerick City, and a project that the Laydex Roofing Division have enormous pride in having been a part of.
